Olympic Motto.

“Citius, Altius, Fortius”.

The motto of the modern Olympic Games, “Faster, Higher, Stronger,” was coined by French Dominican friar Louis Henri Didon (1840-1900), who was a friend of the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Baron Pierre Coubertin – the 1896 Athens Games.

The motto was originally formulated in Latin as “Citius, Altius, Fortius,” for a youth sports event organised by the friar in which Coubertin was assisting . The Dominican friar was Principal of the St. Albert the Great School in Paris. Baron Coubertin later proposed the motto for the Olympic Games.
