Spy Chronicles.
The book “The Spy Chronicles “, co-authored by Gen.Asad Durrani, former chief of Pakistan’s ISI, AS Dulat, former Chief of India’s R&AW, and journalist Aditya Sinha, is an insider account of India-Pakistan relationship in the past 70 years.
The relationship between India and Pakistan is at a new low, and is unlikely to improve, so long as Prime Minister Modi is in power.
The National Security Adviser ( NSA), Ajit Doval is a hawk and only he has the ears of Modi, bypassing all the other ministers.
The key to the Kashmir problem is talks, disregarding all the other irritants and even terrorist attacks.
According to the authors, the Afghan situation is key to a solution of the Kashmir question and it is unlikely, since the Americans are happy to stir the pot in Afghanistan.
As Modi has tended to get closer to the USA, disregarding the traditional ties with Russia, Pakistan is getting closer to Russia and China and this bodes ill for India.
The two top spooks are united in their opinion that Modi lacks the stature and vision of a Vajpayee, to bring about a change in the India-Pakistan relations, and any government in Pakistan is constrained to follow the diktats of its Army.
It is interesting that General Asad Durrani, former Chief of Pakistan’s ISI, had accurately predicted the outcome of the elections in Pakistan, months before even the announcement of the elections.
The Kashmiri people will continue to suffer as before.
One startling revelation made in the book is that India’s R&AW spent 25 million dollars to start an Indian TV channel. It is not difficult to guess the identity of the channel.
