Anand Megalingam, the son of a truck driver, has achieved incredible success in the space technology sector with his startup, Space Zone India, now valued at ₹800 crores.
Coming from a modest background, Anand had difficulties, but was determined to succeed. He earned a scholarship to study Aeronautical Engineering, which fueled his passion for aviation and space.
In December 2021, Anand co-founded Space Zone India with his father, focusing on developing hybrid propulsion systems for rockets, aiming to reduce the costs and environmental impact of space launches. The company made headlines in 2023 by launching India’s first hybrid rocket and is preparing for another launch, Rhumi 1, in August 2024.
Space Zone India also emphasises education by offering workshops for students interested in space and technology. Anand’s goal is to make space tech more accessible and reach a revenue target of ₹42.50 crores by 2025.
