Alcohol Consumption
Alcohol consumption has been a propaganda tool in Kerala for many decades. Led by the Christian bishops, the issue has been projected as the most pressing problem among the people.
The government has been consistently derided as subsisting on the income from the sale of liquor.
However data shows that the average consumption in Kerala is below the national average. In fact all the South Indian States, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are below the national average.
One surprise is Bihar is at the bottom of the list whereas its neighbour Chattisgarh figures on the top.
