Tagore and Russell.

13 October 1912 is remembered for a correspondence between two future Nobel laureates.

Rabeendranath Tagore wrote a letter to Bertrand Russell on this day, 112 years ago.
Tagore writes that he recently finished reading Russell’s article ‘The Essence of Religion’. He says the article reminded him of a verse in the Upanishads.
Russell and Tagore had met when Tagore visited England earlier that year.

Almost a year later, Tagore would receive the 1913 Nobel literature prize for his poetry, the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize. Russell also would receive the Nobel literature prize 37 years later in 1950.
