Success Story from Kerala – 2.
Ajay Gopinath, a former bank employee from Kochi, Kerala, has successfully transitioned into the world of entrepreneurship by cultivating microgreens, a nutrient-dense superfood.
His journey began after he discovered microgreens at a restaurant in Bengaluru, prompting him to research their health benefits. Intrigued by their potential, Ajay left his banking job to pursue this new venture.
Starting in 2017-2018, he experimented with growing microgreens on a small scale. After two years of research and development, he established a viable commercial operation in an 80-square-foot room at his home, where he now grows around 15 different varieties of microgreens.
Ajay harvests approximately 5 kg daily and generates impressive monthly sales ranging from ₹2 to ₹3 lakh under his brand name, Grow Greens.
Ajay’s success is attributed to his commitment to quality; he sources non-GMO seeds from various regions and maintains optimal growing conditions.
He emphasises that microgreens are more nutritious than fully grown vegetables and should be consumed raw to preserve their health benefits.
With franchises across Kerala and cities like Chennai and Bengaluru, Ajay is not only thriving financially but also promoting healthier eating habits through his fresh produce.
