എറിക്ക് മരിയ റെമാർക്ക് ( 1898- 1970) എന്ന ജർമ്മൻ എഴുത്തുകാരൻ്റെ ജന്മവാർഷികദിനമാണ്

ഒരൊറ്റ നോവൽകൊണ്ട് ചരിത്രത്തിലേക്ക് നടന്നുകയറിയയാളാണ് റെമാർക്ക്. 1929ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച All Quiet on the Western Front എന്ന നോവൽ പോലെ ഒന്നാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധത്തിൻ്റെ കെടുതികൾ ഹൃദയസ്പർശിയായി വിവരിക്കുന്ന മറ്റൊരു കൃതി ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല.
നോവലിനെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി നിർമ്മിച്ച ഏല്ലാ സിനിമകളും ( 1930, 1979, 2022) നോവൽപോലെ തന്നെ വമ്പിച്ച ജനപ്രീതി നേടി.
