Romulus, King of Rome.

The first king of Rome, according to Roman mythology and tradition, was Romulus.

Legend has it that Romulus and his twin brother Remus were the sons of the god Mars and the priestess Rhea Silvia.

They were abandoned as infants and raised by a she-wolf before being discovered by a shepherd. As adults, Romulus and Remus decided to establish a city near the site where they had been found.

However, a dispute arose between them over who should rule the new city, and Romulus ultimately killed Remus and became the first king of Rome in 753 BCE.

Romulus is also credited with fortifying the city, creating its first senate, and establishing many of its institutions. While the historical accuracy of these events is debated, Romulus remains a central figure in Roman mythology and the founding of Rome.
