Rash Behari Bose.
25 May is the birth anniversary of the revolutionary freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose (1886-1945).
Bose was attracted to revolutionary activities from a young age. He had to flee Calcutta in 1908 following the Alipore Bomb Case and went to Dehradun.
To escape arrest following the assassination attempt on Lord Hardinge in 1912 in Delhi, Bose fled to Japan. He reached Japan in 1915. He married a Japanese lady Toshiko Sane in 1918 and became a Japanese citizen in 1923.
Rash Behari Bose founded the India Independence League in March 1942, and invited Subash Chandra Bose to assume command as President. The INA was formed on 1 September 1942 as the military arm of the Indian National League.
Rash Bihari Bose died of tuberculosis in Tokyo.
