Johan Cruyff.
25 April is the birth anniversary of Johan Cruyff (1947 -2016).
Considered one of the greatest of players and managers in the history of football, Cruyff left an indelible mark not only on football clubs, Ajax, Amsterdam and Barcelona, Spain, both as a player and manager, but on World Football. Unfortunately Cruyff couldn’t lay his hands on the World Cup despite taking Netherlands into the finals for the first time in history.
In 1999, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics voted Cruyff, European Player of the Century.
Cruyff, whose special trick at the 1974 World Cup became known as the Cruyff Turn. Cruyff is considered the inventor of Total Football where every player plays in varying position according to the situation and attacks and defends in waves.
