Jonathan Demme.

26 April is the death anniversary of renowned film director Jonathan Demme (1944-2017).

His name was etched in the Hall of Fame with the 1991 movie , “The Silence of the Lambs”, which won five Oscars – for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay.
I became a die hard fan of Sir Anthony Hopkins after watching his chilling performance as Dr Hannibal Lectre, serial killer and psychopathic psychiatrist. Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling, the FBI agent was unforgettable.
“Philadelphia” (1993) is the first film to address the issue of AIDS and won Tom Hanks, the Oscar for best actor.
Demme entered the film world in 1971 and directed 70 films in the next 30 years.
The Manchurian Candidate (2004) featuring Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep was another notable film.
The film Rachel getting married fetched Anne Hathaway an Oscar for best actress.
