Roar of the MGM Lion.

Metro Goldwyn Meyer ( MGM ) was one of the studios which ruled the roost among the Hollywood movies for several decades.
The introduction of every movie was characterised by the signature roar of the Lion in its logo.

The photo is of a cameraman and a sound technician recording the roar of Leo the Lion for MGM’s famous movie logo, c.1920s.
The footage was first used in MGM’s first talking picture, ‘White Shadows in the South Seas.’
